Tragedy at the Meat Packing Plant
On October 17, 2013 there was an accident at the Meat Packing Plant that Angel was working at. Camancho Guillerom Borcequin, 52, was killed while trying to dislodge a jammed skid-steer bucket and was crushed between the loader and a trailer. 1
The Draper Police department was dispatched to the Meat Packing Plant and arrived as well as medical to find the 52 year old male deceased. 2 Interviews with the witnesses said that the incident happened this way. A worker was using the skid-steer to dump the left overs, bones and such, into a trailer. The bucket got stuck on the trailer and Borcequin came over to help get the bucket unstuck. As they were working on the trailer they removed some dirt from under the bucket controls. At that time the skid-steer lurched forward and pinned Borcquin’s head between the skid-steer and the trailer.
Angel was reported as being at work during this incident, but was not involved in the incident or a witness to the incident. Kristin Allred, the owner of the residence that Angel resided at prior to moving in with the Grundwald’s, stated that this event did have an impact on Angel. She was later quoted in a local newspaper saying that since this event Angel would regularly bang his own head against the steering wheel of his Cadillac. She also said that he complained of blurred vision and migraines. 3
Angel Tells Parole Officer of Move
On November 21, 2013, Angel officially moved to Salt Lake City. He first met his new parole officer on December 10, 2013. He transferred his parole supervision from Ogden to Salt Lake City and it was assigned to Parole Agent Platis, a 34-year veteran to the Department of Corrections for the State of Utah. Angel told Agent Platis that he moved to Draper to be closer to where he worked. He was currently employed at Dale T. Smith Packing in Draper Utah. His next parole check-in was scheduled to be on January 14, 2014. He was not ordered to complete any type of treatment or any other conditions of his parole. The only conditions were that he was to work and stay out of trouble for the thirty-six months he was assigned to parole. He reported to Agent Platis that he was living with Meagan.
Wedding Text
Meagan texts Angel at 11:30 am “I freaking love you more, too.” Smiley face. “Sadi wants to come to our wedding.4” Smiley face. During their relationship Meagan and Angel would joke about getting married. Meagan on several occasions thought that she was pregnant with Angel’s baby. 5 Meagan would search on her phone for Wedding Dresses, Wedding Cakes, and Wedding Rings. There were also searches done to find ways to give a guy a ring. At one point Meagan was introduced to one of Angel’s previous girl friends and told her “He’s my boyfriend, not yours.6“
There was a complex and often contradictory relationship between Meagan and Angel. Despite Meagan’s clams that discussions of marriage were a “jokes,” the court documents suggest a deeper level of commitment and emotional entanglement. The fact that she talks about Sadi wanting to come to their wedding shows that it had been discussed with other individuals. Given that and the internet searches it shows that Meagan was really considering the idea of tying the knot with Angel. These interactions and preoccupation with the idea of marriage to Angel shows that the idea is more than just mere humor.
Angel’s Head Injury
As mentioned earlier, Angel missed work because of a head injury he received while in the bathroom at the Grunwald house. During Meagan’s testimony at her trial she talks more about this head injury.
She was sitting in the living room when Angel came walking in and sat down. Angel was holding his head as if he was in pain. Meagan asks Angel, “Want’s wrong?” Angel responds, “I just banged my head on the bathroom door.” “Are you okay? Do you want me to go get you ice,” Meagan askes. “No, I’m Fine,” replies Angel. Meagan looks back over at him and notices that he is bleeding and has a cut over his eyebrow. She then gets up and gets some gauze and stuff and eventually glued the cut shut.
Angel was in no condition to drive at the time, so Tori drove him to the emergency room.
