January 13, 2014 – Angel’s PO Officer Hears About Altercation
On January 13, 2014, Officer Platis receives a phone call from a Jery Ping (Angel’s Aunt) who reports to him that Angel and the Jerry got into an altercation at the home on Saturday. Officer Platis had not yet been notified by the Draper Police Department. He then calls Angel and leaves a message for him to call him back. Angel never returned his call.
Angel did come into the Parole Officers office on January 14th for his second visit with Officer Platis. He was supposed to have contacted him within 48 hours of the altercation, as well as notified him of any change of address. He was currently staying at Comfort Inn because of the altercation. Officer Platis asked Angel about the incident with the gun. He denied having a gun as well as pointing the gun at Jerry. Officer Platis told Angel he could not return to the Grunwald’s. Angel said he would move in with his brother, Gustavo, in Provo. Officer Platis confirmed with Gustavo that he could move back in with him and instructed him that he had to report to the Provo Parole Office the next day or January 15, 2014, to have his case transferred back to Provo.
Officer Platis talked to Angel again on January 17, 2014, after he had completed his transfer summary on him. He was again instructed to report to the Provo Parole Office on January 18, 2014. Angel told Officer Platis that he had reported to Provo and was told to come back once his case was transferred.
On January 30, 2014 the Draper Police Department calls Agent Platis in regards to Angel. They are told that he was aware of the incident in Draper and the from his talks with others on the scene, no one he talked to ever saw a gun pointed at someone else, and that a warrant has been issued for Angel for not checking in.
January 24, 2014 – Angel Violates Parole
Officer Platis and Reed started to look for Angel after he failed to report to the Parole Office in Provo on January 18, 2014. Reed does a field visit to Gustavo’s house to see if Angel is there. An unknown male answers the door and tells Officer Reed that he does not know who Jose Garcia is and that he had just moved in. Both Officer Reed and Platis try calling Angel but are unsuccessful. On January 24, 2014 Officer Platis starts working on a Board of Pardons warrant. He has found out that Angel has been fired from his job, is not living at his brother’s as instructed, and has not checked in with the Provo Parole office. At 17:38 he receives a call from Angel. Angel tells him that he is staying at a Comfort Inn in St. George and that Tori and Meagan are moving to St. George and he will find work and live with them.
Officer Platis instructs Angel to return to Provo and his brother’s house and that they would work on helping him into a halfway house and find employment. Officer Platis would contact him on Monday, and they would figure something out.
