Meagan Found Guilty
On May 9, 2015 after a 10 day Jury trial Meagan is found guilty on 11 of the 12 charges. The 4th charge of Attempted Aggravated Murder a 1st Degree Felony was dismissed by the Jury and the Court. The other counts are as follows.
- Guilty – Manslaughter – 1st Degree Felony
Twenty-five years to life in prison. - Guilty – Assault Against a Police Officer – 1st Degree Felony
Fifteen years to life in prison. - Guilty – Felony Discharge of a Firearm – 3rd Degree Felony
No more than Five years in prison. - Dismissed – Attempted Aggravated Murder – 1st Degree Felony
- Guilty – Felony Discharge of a Firearm – 3rd Degree Felony
No more than Five years in prison. - Guilty – Criminal Mischief – Class A Misdemeanor
365 Days in JailGuilty – Criminal Mischief – 2nd Degree Felony
One to fifteen years in prison. - Guilty – Accident Involving Property Damage – Class B Misdemeanor
180 Days in Jail - Guilty – Failed to Stop or Respond to Command of Police – 3rd Degree Felony
No more than Five years in prison. - Guilty – Aggravated Robbery – 1st Degree Felony
Five years to life in prison. - Guilty – Possession or use of a Controlled Substance – 3rd Degree Felony
No more than Five years in prison.
The sentencing was held on July 8, 2015 in the 4th District Court in Provo Utah.1 Meagan was given the opportunity to address the court, afterwards Mr. Pead a prosecutor for the State of Utah requested that the court be allowed to hear from victims and victims family members. Deputy Sherwood addressed the court, he was the officer that was shot by Angel in Santaquin while fleeing from police.
After Sherwood addressed the court the following family members addressed the court:
- Kathy Wride – Cory Wride’s mother
- Nathan Moler – Cory Wride’s oldest son
- Nanette Wride – Cory Wride’s wife
- Blake Wride, Cory Wride’s father
- Ann Curtis, Cory Wride’s sister
Jerry Grunwald, Meagan’s father also addressed the court after Nanette and before Blake.
Meagan Appeal
On February 8, 2016, an appeal was sent to the Supreme Court. On March 3, 2016, the Supreme Court of Utah responds to counsel. The transcripts are then transcribed from the audio and sent to the Utah Supreme Court for review. The Utah Supreme court files an opinion on the case and on May 17, 2021, the court amends the charges based on a new plea deal between Meagan and the State.

Five years to life in prison.
The aggravated robbery charge was not overturned or changed, and she is still currently serving a five to life sentence in state prison for that charge.
