Angel tells Meagan about prison.
According to Meagan’s testimony during her trial, she indicated that around November Angel discussed that he was in prison with he1r. At this point she knew he was on parole, but really did not understand that to be on parole you have to have spent time in prison. A lot of people get probation and parole mixed up. Probation is given instead of prison, and parole is given after you are released from prison.
Angel said to her, “There’s something I need to tell you.”
“Like what,” Meagan responds.
“I was actually in prison.”
“Okay,” Meagan says questioning, not really understanding the difference between jail and prison currently. These are also terms that people use interchangeably. Traditionally jail is for terms of incarceration less than one year, and prison is for terms longer than one year. She presses him and asks why he was in prison.
“It was self-defense,” Angel responses to her question. “The guy ended up dying, so I got a manslaughter charge.2”
Meagan said that she was never told the story or told exactly what happened. The conversation quickly changed to a different topic.
Dear Hot Tamale
Meagan sends a video to Angel, it was recovered from his phone by the Forensics team. (Taken from the transcript of Meagan’s Jury Trial 5/5/2015 Pg. 1427 lines 20-25, Pg. 1428 lines 1-6) The audio of that video is included here3.

You satisfy my Snicker. He begins to feel her Mounts that were pure Almond Joy. He let off a Snicker as his Butter Finger went up into her Kit-Kat and caused a Milky Way. She grabbed his Tootsie Roll and squeezed his Peanut M&M’s. Love Sweet Tart. P.S. I’ll f*** you even if you Score.”
Meagan insists that her and Angel are not sexually active. But Tori finds a condom in their house. She does not know what it is, so she sends her niece Felicia who is the same age as Angel a text message asking her what it is. Felicia then texts Meagan to ask her about it. Meagan denies that she is having sex with Angel. The date of the conversation about the condom is not exact, putting it here is a decision that I made. Tori was asked under oath if she found it and was asked about the condom. She said that she did not, but it must be remembered that Tori suffers from brain damage from a car accident. She has been diagnosed with dementia as well as early onset Alzheimer’s. She has problems with her short term and long-term memory. Something that she relies heavily on Meagan for help. Sometimes texting her 10-12 times a day asking questions to remember things.
The following is the transcript of Felicia given on the 6th day of the Meagan Jury trial as she discusses the condom.
- 20 Q. Are you aware of whether or not Angel ever lived with
- 21 the Grunwalds in Draper?
- 22 A. Yeah, he lived there.
- 23 Q. Okay, while he was living there did your Aunt Tori
- 24 send you a text message about finding a condom?
- 25 A. Yes.

- 2 A. No.
- 3 Q. Did you tell her what it was?
- 4 A. Yes.
- 5 Q. As a result of that did you send a text message to
- 6 Meagan?
- 7 A. Yes.
- 8 Q. Did Meagan deny having had sex?
- 9 A. Yes.
- 10 Q. What did you say?
- 11 A. I told her that he’s an older guy, and older guys
- 12 aren’t looking for the same thing as like a younger 13 or 14
- 13 year old guy. So not to lie to me, and tell me the truth and
- 14 to always be safe, and I’m glad they were using condoms, but to
- 15 be safe because she doesn’t need a baby. She needs to be, you
- 16 know –- I understand everybody’s –- you know, younger people
- 17 have sex, and that’s fine, but to be safe.
- 18 Q. Okay, did you ever do any research on Angel Garcia in
- 19 relation to a prior crime?
- 20 A. I tried, but I’m not very good at searching stuff, so
- 21 my husband –- my husband did.
- 22 Q. Okay, and did you find out information?
- 23 A. Yes.
- 24 Q. Did you relay that to Meagan?
- 25 A. Yes.

- 2 A. She told me that it was –- because it’s a very common
- 3 name –- that it was a common name and that it didn’t sound like
- 4 the story that he had told her. So that it wasn’t –- she didn’t
- 5 believe that it was him.
