This is the statement made by Otero that was translated by Officer Mendez of the Springfield PD.1
On September 5, I Juan Otero got together with some friends to have a small meal in celebration of my birthday. The two of them used to work with me at once time. One of them was called Jose Sida and the other was named Jose Angel Garcia. We were together eating and drinking beer and everything was going well until they began to sing/rap insulting rhymes to each other and to me. I don’t like these type of things because most times they end up in problems. For this reason I told them to stop but they wanted to fight. But because I had my family present as well as Angel’s girlfriend’s and her daughters too. I told them not to disrespect my home.
Afterwards Jose and Angel left and Angel took his girlfriend home. After several minutes Jose returned and apologized for his behavior. Then angel came back they resolved the problem they had. Then after a few drinks Angel offered to take Jose to his home and I offered to accompany them. When we arrived to Jose’s home the both of them began to argue, but I don’t know why. I was walking towards Jose’s home when I turned around Angel hit me with a metal bar on the face and I lost consciousness. For one moment when I awoke I saw that Angel was hitting Jose while he was on the floor. It tried to get up and when saw me he left. Due to me not having a lot of strength as a result of my injuries I fell down and afterwards I was taken to the hospital.
